In the aftermath of the earthquake that devastated Port-au-Prince in 2010, Esaie Jean-Louis took in 16 orphaned children and provided for their immediate needs. He opened Jesus Name Children’s Home in response to caring for children orphaned as a result of the natural disaster. Over the next few years, a new property was purchased and facilities were built to provide the children with secure housing and a more comfortable living space.
The level of care for the children has grown over the years, helped in part by their partnership with Back2Back, which began in 2016. In addition to improvements on their property, Back2Back has invested in the children through enrichment activities and nurture groups. Sponsorship funds help provide well-balanced meals, loving caregivers, a social worker and psychologist, education support, training in vocational skills, various housing expenses, and weekly group activities.
