Hyderabad is the capital of the state of Telangana, in southern India. The city has a population of more than 7 million residents, making it one of the most populous cities in the country. Known for its pearl and diamond industry, Hyderabad is also a hub for human trafficking in India, where children and parents alike fall victim to predators who promise a better existence is just a few hundred kilometers away. Although the middle class is growing, severe poverty remains a stubborn reality among the 1.3 billion population of India, which is growing at a rate of one child every 10 seconds. The most prominent religions here are Hinduism (70%) and Islam (25%), with Christianity making up a small minority (3-4%). Back2Back began working in India in 2008.
