In 2007, Hurricane Noel hit Hispaniola, devastating the town of Cabaret. Following the storm, the current children’s home director, Joel, took in neighborhood children asking for help and began Rescue of God Children’s Home. The home began receiving assistance from community members, helping to meet the needs of each child. In 2010, the island of Haiti was hit by an earthquake, leaving many children without their families. Joel followed the call to care for more children and open a school for the children at the home, as well as neighborhood children.
