Martha Rojas opened Del Norte Children’s Home in 1997. Martha was in a nursing management position at a government hospital for many years, and felt called to open her own children’s home. She started the home with a few other nurses and social workers, and used her background to provide basic medical care for abandoned children and single mothers. Back2Back began working with Del Norte Children’s Home in 1999. Del Norte Children’s Home also has a complete medical exam room to meet the physical needs of the children. The young children at del norte enjoy playing outside, spending time with local volunteers, listening to music and coloring. Sponsorship funds help provide well-balanced meals, loving caregivers, a social worker, a child psychologist and housing expenses.
